A TRADITION CONTINUES
Are you related to the bakery? This question for those of us with the last name of Klappenbach who live in South Arkansas has been heard many times through the years.
Hi, I’m Heidi Klappenbach. Norman and Lee owned Klappenbach Bakery in Fordyce, Arkansas, from 1975 until their retirement in 2011. My in-laws are Norman and Lee Klappenbach; my husband Tim, is one of their three sons.
I plan to share many stories and memories on this site. But I will begin with the creation of Klappenbach Bakehaus. After the bakery closed, I started baking Norman’s gingerbread cookies and houses for family and friends during the holiday season.
Gingerbread cookies were a popular item at the bakery, and they were available year-round. The bakery also shipped them to customers. I have many fond memories learning from Norman and helping decorate gingerbread cookies and houses during the Christmas rush at the bakery.
My home-based business of baked gingerbread cookies and houses will continue the Klappenbach Bakery memories for those who shopped at the bakery and make memories for those who missed this one-of-a-kind bakery experience.
